We use equipment sized for the tank in front of us rather than whatever happens to be loaded, and we dig by hand around a lid instead of putting a machine over a lawn or a bank.

Toronto is up the Ohio from us, and the properties we pump there are mostly the ones off the flat: up the hill roads and back the hollows where a sewer line was never going to reach.
Those are the jobs that reward knowing the ground. We have been running this stretch of the river since 2012.

A tank on a steep lot is a different proposition from one on level ground. The drive may be narrow, the tank may sit well below or well above the house, and how much hose we have to run decides whether the job is straightforward or awkward. It is worth telling us on the phone which it is — we would rather bring the right truck than find out in your driveway.
None of that changes what the tank needs. Solids settle, the sludge layer builds, and once it is deep enough the solids start leaving with the liquid and heading for the drainfield. On a hillside that can show up as wet ground downslope well before anything backs up indoors.
We empty Toronto tanks fully, sludge and liquid both, and look over the tank and baffles while the access is open. Steubenville and Wintersville have their own pages if one of those is nearer to you.
What we do
How it works
We locate the access, open it safely, and pump the tank out completely. On a tight or sloped site that can mean running hose from where the truck can actually stand, which we would rather plan than improvise.
Then the tank gets looked over, the lid is reseated, and the ground goes back as we found it. Anything we noticed inside, you hear about on the day.

Over a decade on the same river road means most of this work comes from people calling us back. That only happens if the job was done properly the first time.
Tell us roughly where the property sits and how tight the access is, and we will tell you what the visit involves before we come out.

FAQs
Usually, and where we cannot park at the tank we run hose to it. Tell us what the access looks like when you call and we will tell you honestly whether it is a problem.
It can be. Wet or unusually green ground downslope of a tank or drainfield is a common early sign that solids have carried through. Worth getting looked at before it reaches the house.
Thirty minutes to an hour for a standard tank with reasonable access. Difficult access, a buried lid or a tank that has been left a long time all add to it.
Yes. Most of what we pump around Toronto is outside the built-up part, back the hollows and up the hill roads.
