Septic Repairs in Ohio & West Virginia

Most septic problems are found by someone standing over an open tank. When we find one, you hear about it that day — while the tank is still open and you can see what we are talking about.

We are a small operation, not a sales outfit. If the tank and the baffles are sound, that is what we tell you.

Found on the Day, Told on the Day

A septic system gives very little away from the surface. The tank is sealed, buried, and working quietly whether or not everything inside it is still doing its job. That is why the useful moment is when the tank has been emptied and the access is off, and why the look we take then is worth having.

If something has gone, we say so there and then, in plain terms, with the tank open in front of both of us. What we will not do is write a repair into a job you did not ask for, or put a number on something nobody has looked at.

Describe what is happening when you call and you will get a straight answer — including when the answer is that the work belongs to a different trade.

What turns up

Problems a Pump-Out Brings to Light

These are the things that commonly show themselves once a tank is open or once the ground around it starts telling a story:

  • A baffle that has corroded or broken away
  • A cracked or settled lid, or no riser bringing the access to the surface
  • A tank left so long that solids have carried out towards the drainfield
  • Ground that stays wet or unusually green downslope of the tank
  • An alarm that keeps going off however often it is silenced

Some of those are ours to put right and some are not. Tell us what you are seeing and we will say which — and if the access lid is lost under the lawn, finding it is part of the job rather than a reason to put the visit off.

A Backup Is an Emergency Call, Not a Repair Booking

If sewage is backing up into the house, wastewater is surfacing in the yard, or the alarm is sounding, that is not something to schedule for next week. Call or text and say what is happening.

Our regular hours are Mon–Fri 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Work outside them, including nights and weekends, is emergency service and is based on availability and on the weather. We will tell you honestly when we can get there rather than promise a time we cannot hit.

Wetherell is licensed and insured in Ohio and West Virginia. We are not licensed to provide septic services in Pennsylvania.

Something Not Right With the System?

Tell us what the drains, the yard or the alarm are doing. We will tell you straight whether it is ours and what the next step is.

FAQs

Septic Repair Questions

What happens if you find a problem while pumping?

You hear about it on the day, with the tank still open so you can see what we are describing. We would rather show you than put it in a letter afterwards.

Which repairs do you take on?

Call or text and describe what is happening. Rather than publish a list of work we may or may not be the right people for, we would sooner hear the problem and give you a straight answer — including when the answer is that it belongs to a different trade.

Will you quote a repair over the phone?

No. We will happily talk through what you are seeing, but a price for a repair nobody has looked at would be a guess, and you would be entitled to be annoyed when it changed.

Is a backup a repair or an emergency?

Treat a backup or an overflow as an emergency call rather than a repair booking. Emergency service is based on availability and on the weather, and the sooner we hear from you the better the chance of getting there quickly.

Do you work in Pennsylvania?

No. Wetherell is licensed and insured in Ohio and West Virginia only.
